The holidays are a particularly interesting time for mobile app usage.
While installs of music streaming apps increased by 86% during the holiday season of 2021, food delivery apps and health and fitness apps saw a sharp decline during the same period.
For food delivery apps, installs were 9% below the annual average in December, but quickly recovered in January, with a 16% increase. And for health and fitness apps, installs were 48% below the annual average, but increased by 39% in early 2022.
Finally, downloads of gaming apps remained high all year and were up 28% on 25-26 December compared to the average.
